Programs Offered

Junior Tennis Programs

All junior players participating in our programs must be active USTA members. Team Captains will be responsible for ensuring player registration and score reporting in TennisLink. In an effort to ensure player safety and a positive experience, all team captains and co-captains will be required to go through the USTA Georgia Background Screening Process and Youth Protection Training online course to be completed before the start of season play.

Fall/Spring season – Non-advancing League
In our continued effort to provide junior match play in a competitive, fun and safe environment, COTA Junior Tennis has made great changes to strengthen our local league. The intent is to strengthen equal level of competition between players, increase number of teams per division, and focus on skill, then age and for the more advanced players target same gender matches. In order to achieve these goals, team and player requirements are less stringent. The age cut off rule will not apply to the non-advancing league. As always, our local pros/captains will place players on teams with these changes in mind and in addition, will be collaborating and formulating lines ups for equal skilled players. While we (COTA, pros/captains) cannot guarantee each match will be of equal skills, guarantee every effort will be made to ensure the best possible competitive match. Program match play does not advance past the Local League Division Winner.

8u League – Advancing league
The 8u league is for children ages 6-8 years old who have had a serious of lessons and have the ability to serve with some consistency. The 8u league plays on the 36 ft court using the red low compression ball.   The objective of this league is to give children the opportunity to learn how to score and play matches in a non-competitive environment. Parent involvement is required. Players typically begin with practice matches with their teammates and if able and possible will play matches against other facilities. Every effort is made to put players of the same skill together. Both singles and doubles matches are played so players have the opportunity to learn how to score both formats of match play. Beginner and Intermediate level divisions are offered. Player participating in league play qualifies them for advancement to the Georgia 8u Regional Championship held in November each year. COTA will only offer this opportunity if the tournament uses the low red compression ball. For more information, contact you facility pro or Lisa Bowen, jtt@cotatennis.net.
